I'm making a bar stool today. For a long time I saw a similar one on Pinterest, was inspired and mentally collected it for a whole month) The chair is generally simple, but the charm of this design is in the subtlety of the timber, according to my calculations, it should not exceed 30 mm. And since I have not yet gained enough experience, I decided that I will not transfer expensive varieties of wood to an experiment. But you can't make such a chair out of pine either, the wood is too soft. I decided to make from Larch, one 3 meter deck board was just drying up. The thickness of the board is 28 mm and after the thicknessing board it will remain 25 mm, after thinking I decided that the thickness would be enough. Looking ahead, I’ll say that I didn’t have enough material, I had to use pine for the backrest and abandon the two tsars in the structure, although whom I’m deceiving, I just forgot to install them))) So far, more than one project can not do without jambs)
I selected the height of the chair for my new table on the loggia, my stool, which I temporarily raised from the workshop, is too high.
I unrolled some of the boards to the slats and calibrated everything in the thickness gauge. Larch is a prickly material, and therefore, before trimming the blanks, I wrapped the cut points with masking tape.
I left some of the boards for gluing the shield under the seat.
He glued the shield with carpentry glue and squeezed it with powerful pipe clamps.
When all the details were ready, I proceeded to join the structure.
I decided to connect with dowels, since the fasteners should not have been visible in order to preserve the aesthetics of the model.
At first I thought that I would drill holes for dowels with the help of my furniture conductor, but after trying it I realized that in this project he was not my assistant. I decided to use taps. I had to practice first, because I hadn't used them before.
The seat and back are the same fixed on the dowels.
I chose oil for furniture as a coating, and set the shade with a color scheme from Martyanov Ugolyok, I really like this color, the drawing on the tree turns out to be very textured.
To be honest, it was scary to sit on a chair at first, but after testing I realized that the structure is strong enough even for my 100 kg) I can safely recommend it for manufacturing. As always, I will post a link to the project in the Sketchup, follow the news in the Community.
